Toms Hanks For Captain Haddock In New Tintin Movie Trilogy

The rumour mill is working over time on the Tintin movie. Tom Hanks is the latest name linked to the role of Captain Haddock. Tom Hanks is one of the most famous and successful actors in Hollywood and has won two Oscars in an impressive movie career.

The Tintin movie trilogy is to be brought to fruition by Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. The fact that Steven Spielberg is central to the project makes Tom Hanks link to play Captain Haddock easier to understand.

Tom Hanks and Spielberg were brought together on two very successful projects one being the acclaimed TV serial Band of Brothers and the other being the film Saving Private Ryan. Saving Private Ryan was a successful and critically claimed.

Captain Haddock is very much central to the Tintin series of cartoons. Archibald (the captain’s first name) Haddock was first introduced into the Tintin world in The Crab with the Golden Claws as the Commander of the Karaboudjan.

Captain Haddock is first seen as weak character in the series and also an alcoholic. The longer the Tintin series went on though his character gained in stature and an ultimately volunteers to save the life of Tintin in Tintin in Tibet. Thus forever endearing him to Tintin fans the world over.

Captain Haddock is a late edition to the Tintin world but is one of his most loved characters. The use of Tom hanks to play him in the movie would be a safe bet as it would guarantee a certain audience who are fans of Hanks. This would help the film sell in America where Tintin isn’t the most well known character. Tintin only preceded Mickey Mouse by a few months and so never really took off in America where they preferred their own plucky mouse to that of some European boy detective.

Spielberg is a life long Tintin fan and hopes to be successful in introducing the boy detective to an American audience. The use of Tom Hanks will help him get there. The Tintin movie will prove to be one of the biggest movies when it is released and there will many very critical Tintin fans casting their eyes over the finished product. There is a vast following for Tintin around Europe that has now spread as far a field as China where Tintin adventure novels sell by the millions. The potential audience for any Tintin movie is huge as Tom Hanks should prove a safe bet in the role of Captain Haddock.

A Basic DVD Movie Rental Guide For First Time Users

DVD movie rentals via the mail have become increasingly popular over the last few years. As you’ve probably noticed there are many companies that offer this service. There are many people who can benefit from taking advantage of movie rentals by mail. The elderly, disabled and parents of small children often find it either near impossible or near improbably to leave the house for the movie store. For the individual who finds getting around and running errands a chore, receiving DVD movie rental through the mail is a welcome relief.

The advantage of DVD movie rental services continues past convenience. Paying a straight monthly fee can be easier on the pocket book too. Companies such as Netflix do not charge late fees. Since there is no “due date” you return your movie after you’ve finished with it. However, you won’t get the next movie until the DVD out is returned. The faster you return your movies, the more you get for your money.

Traditional store front DVD rental services, such as Blockbuster, are even offering online services. A big advantage of utilizing their services is that you will get a coupon for a free in-store DVD movie rental. This is in addition to the movies you receive in the mail and allows you to get your hands on the movie you just “have to see” right then and there!

A few basic requirements such as an accepted mailing address and a credit or debit card are needed in order to join a DVD movie rental company.

With all the advantages that companies such as Netflix, Quickflicks, Intelliflix and Cafe DVD offer, it’s easy to miss the drawbacks. With a DVD movie rental service you must decide not only what you want to watch, but when. If you’re itching to settle down to that little romance you signed up for, but you’ve requested it for a later date, you’re out of luck. You get the movie you choose when the online rental company has it available.

It’s relatively easy to order movies once you decide to sign with a DVD rental company. Just scroll through their movie index and pick the ones you want to watch. A common option is the ability for you to prioritize which flick you’d like to view first. Unfortunately you don’t get the option to choose when your videos are sent to you from the DVD movie rental company.

Summary:

Many Traditional and exclusively online companies offer mail order DVD movie rental services. Online movie rental services offer advantages that a local video store just can’t. No need to bother going out to rent a video or worrying about late fees. Also, the faster you watch your movie and return it, the more movies you can watch each month and the more bang you get for your buck!

Internet Video Rentals - Expanding Your Digital Movie Collection

Many of us have spent some time on sites like YouTube watching that short funny film that your friend emailed the link too. Maybe you have even taken the time to watch some full length indepent films which can be found on sites like Jaman or CinquestOnline. If it’s just a little entertainment that your looking for there are literally hundreds of free sites that house video for us to watch. What about when you want to watch the latest Hollywood blockbuster that you missed while it was in theatre?

This article briefly looks at some of the top video rental/purchase site that are online today. It is no longer necessary to run down to your local movie store to rent or buy your movies. With new online digital rental/purchase services available you can rent and watch movies right on your PC. Although the picture quality varies between the sites, as does the availability of the latest movies, renting movies online ads gives you the convenience of watching what you want now without a trip to your local video store. Best of all there are never any late fees!

There are many sites that allow you to purchase or rent movies for digital download. For brevity, I am just going to talk about the three that I found the best and the reasons why.

My favorite online movie site is CinemaNow. The site — although it doesn’t always have the most current selection like your local video store — has a huge selection of movies, ranging from some of the latest blockbusters to free independent films. With most newer films you have the option to either purchase or rent the movie. The thing that I liked best about CinemaNow was that, when you purchase a movie, they give you the option of burning to a DVD that you can watch on your television. Of the sites I looked at CinemaNow seems to be the only one that will let you do this. The picture quality is good for paid content (some of the free or subscription content is lower quality), and the site overall seemed to be the best that I could find.

The next site that I found which topped the pack is Amazon’s new service Unbox. Of the rental sites I talk about today Unbox is the both, the easiest to use, and has the closest to DVD quality video. Movies become available as they are released to DVD, so the selection at the Amazon owned site is great. The best thing I found with Ubox was how easy the site was to use. Movies are properly categorized and easy to find. Being the largest online book retailer in the world has given Amazon experience in organizing an online storefront, and it shows with their new Unbox service. Great quality and ease of use make Unbox a viable contender for the best movie house online.

The last site that I would place in the top three is Apple’s Itunes. With itunes it isn’t picture quaility or ease of use that bring it to the top. In fact I find the itunes player clunky and the interface hard to use. What the Apple owned service does have going for it however, are the gadgets that you can buy to replay your purchased movies (no rental option on itunes). Movies downloaded from itunes can be played on your PC, through your video ipod, or through your television set with the new Apple TV unit. Combine the hardware with the up to date selection of movies and itunes stays in the top three on my list.

Movie Magic for Poker Players

One of my earliest memories of a poker game is from the 1965 movie, Cincinnati Kid. The movie follows a young poker player (played by Steve McQueen) as he pits himself against the top poker player of the time. The movie (heeded by many as one of the greatest poker movies ever) gave rise to my lifelong interest in the game. In more recent times I was pleased to watch the Matt Damon movie, Rounders.

Perhaps, what I love most about poker movies are the crisp, sarcastic dialogues, the rounds of bluffing, the quiet calculated manner of those that win, and the suspense of what the next card might be. In these movies, it is the man (or woman) with the greater intelligence that wins the game.

Poker movies provide entertainment. However, that is not my primary reason for watching them. Being unable to resist a good poker game at times, I like to stay on top of the various tips that my poker buddies keep using. And trust me, for those of us that play poker only occasionally, most of our tricks come from the movies.

One poker trick that we learn from the movies is that of reading the looks on the faces of the other players. Eyes that are downcast or have a happy glint in them are sure giveaways of the kinds of cards that a person has drawn. Of course, that unhappy looking fellow might be on to you, and might be bringing all his theatrical talents to the poker table. Be careful. Don’t give away your own cards by your facial expressions or your body language. And don’t be fooled by somebody else.

More importantly, don’t give in to an emotional outburst. In a good poker game, the pressure will build up. But you must concentrate on the game, on winning. Emotions will only give your opponents the upper hand. Don’t lose control of the game. Also, avoid drinking yourself silly during a poker game, unless you are in the mood to let other people win. A person who is drunk throughout a game is only preparing to drown in losses.

Also, the ego should be kept aside during a game. The over-confident upstart often digs his own grave all thanks to a desire for one-upmanship. It is advisable to hold on to your best hands sometimes. Let others have their season in the sun. You wait for the most opportune moment. Strike at the right time and you will be the one raking in all the moolah!

Watch Free Movie Online - Why Pay High Movie And Cable Rentals?

With the mounting prices of movie and cable rental outlets, businesses are en route to another method. Companies now put forward the opportunity to watch free movie online for a restricted time. Nowadays, there are many online movie stores to discover on the Internet. Joining the cause are several highly regarded and well-liked businesses such as Google. The types of movies you might find differ with each company, including iFilms and Atomfilms.

When you want to watch free movies online, there are a plethora of options available to pick from. The selections you might come across are usually trial, instructive, or documentary. Trendy picture titles that previously graced the silver screen will require you to pay a monthly fee. However, prior to paying any fees, you should have a look at the services of watching free movies online. You can do this by getting a free trial subscription that many companies offer, which for a determined period of time is absolutely free.

What You Need To Watch Free Movies Online

Vongo, which is a company you might have seen on many commercials, offers the online community a comparable selection of movies. You can enjoy both newer and older titles such as Daddy Day Care, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Fog, or Rent. These movies can be downloaded or watched online and all this absolutely free! However, the trial subscription will only last for fourteen days.

Before joining these sites, you should consider the space on your computer. Most movie titles range from very large 1.0 or 1.3 gigabytes to smaller ones that range from five hundred to seven hundred megabytes. The large movie files, will have a higher quality, but take longer to download. You should expect to wait about forty to sixty minutes for the download to complete. Once the trial subscription has ended, you will be charged a fixed price each month, which is typically around ten dollars.

A key factor to consider if you want to watch free movie online is the connection speed. If you are using a broadband connection or a DSL, you will get good quality films to watch. The same cannot be said about a modem. Consider watching movies which are streaming in nature. You can watch as soon as the downloading process starts instead of having to completely download and watch.

For watching free movie online, you should have all the required software. Normally, windows have a media player. You can also download RealPlayer for free. Most online movie sites offer download links. Close all other applications when you begin to watch movie online as it might effect the quality of the movie you are watching. Don’t forget to experiment with the settings of the media player to enhance your movie watching experience.

The Pros and Cons of Watching Free Online Movies

Online movies can save you both time and money. By watching free movies online, you eliminate the need of visiting the rental store or movie theater ever again. You can watch free movies online right at home with the internet and your computer.

You can take as long as you need to watch free movies online. There is no due date and no late fees associated with them. You can also take the time to actually choose your movies, you don’t have to quickly read the summaries and decide based on that. With online movie rentals you can get full and detailed information which might include character lists and movie summaries. This helps you make informed decisions and make great use of your time and money.

Frequently, the movies offered are restricted because talks with every motion picture company must be completed. You may not have the ability to view the film you have been waiting months to view. If you do not have patience, this might not be the best choice for you. When renting from an offline outlet, you get to select the movie and then carry it home. It is ready to go into your DVD or VCR player. When getting online movies, once the download is completed you are ready to go. In some cases, you will be able to watch free movies online while you download, but this is not the case with every online movie company.

Even though you can watch free movie online for a restricted time, several customers seldom stay on for the reason that they think they have gone through all of the probable movies to view.

Given that online movies are viewed on the computer screen, restrictions do exist. The movie has to be watched right at the computer. In most cases, the computer screen is much smaller than the television set. Furthermore, to get quality sound, you need a set of really superior speakers. You might have a computer that will allow you to hook it up to your television set. However, if you do not, you can purchase the equipment that will allow you to do this.

Summary:

With the mounting prices of movie and cable rental outlets, businesses are en route to another method. Companies now put forward the opportunity to watch free movie online for a restricted time. Nowadays, there are many online movie stores to discover on the Internet. Joining the cause are several highly regarded and well-liked businesses such as Google.

Watch Movies On The Go With Your Video Ipod Movie Player

With Apple computers most recent evolution of their venerable iPod, music, movies, as well as TV programs are now all portable enough to take with you whenever you want and can be listened to through your iPod portable speaker or through headphones.

However, the enthusiasm may be lessened somewhat due to issues such as ergonomics, compatibility, and movie selection. Despite the fact that you have the ability to watch downloadable movies with your iPod, it may become somewhat uncomfortable for long periods of time.

Considering that one criticism (however minor) typical to most reviews is it can sometimes be very uncomfortable to have to hold the video iPod in an upright position while viewing a TV program. Most television dramas are roughly 1 hour long, however how many people really wish to spend two hours or more viewing movies on your iPod? Likely not many.

However, it is most certainly ideal in short periods of time, and you have the option to break up these sessions into a 30 minute segments to solve any discomfort issues while viewing movies on your iPod. It’s that or you will need to switch hands of whole lot.

Portability Versus Compatibility

An additional consideration that needs to be taken into account is the fact that depending on the format of the file, your movies in your iPod may not be compatible. The safest road to take to solve any compatibility issues is to downloading movies through iTunes.

Additionally, there may be several other issues to take into consideration when you start to download movies to use on your iPod. Including iTunes, there are at least a couple of movie download sites. However, the service that has been initially offered at these sites have been rather average at best.

Individuals have had complaints when it comes to long download times, even though they may have high-speed internet connections. Another similar issue with movies that are downloaded is the image quality can be poor at times.

Numerous customers who frequent these sites have also had complaints about less than acceptable pictures that are below DVD quality, and various movies also display artifacts on the screen (or monitor).

The majority of downloadable movies are just as expensive as their DVD counterparts yet do not have many of the extras that the majority of individuals have come to expect. The odds are that if you have a movie that is downloaded, you will not receive any bonuses such as photo galleries, commentaries etc..

As challenging as these different issues may be, the technology is emerging. If you can get by the fact that there is still some issues with movies that are downloaded, your iPod can be your most useful mobile device on a plane or a crowded bus.

Even the possibility of having your hands cramp and having a less-than-perfect picture, at the moment there is no greater convenience of having the ability to carry all your movies along with you regardless of where your destination may be.

How To Make A 15 Second Short Movie

First, take your favorite movie recording machine - this may be your compact digital camera, your camcorder, even your (latest and greatest) cell phone.

Remember - you’ve only got 15 seconds, and you want to be sure to say what you want to say, as clearly as possible.

Avoid camera shake, consider your lighting (hint - more is probably better than less), and get the action in fast. If the situation allows it, you might also consider more than one take - it’ll make your editing easier when you get to your computer. Shoot a bit before and a bit after the scene you’re shooting - you’ll want a few frames to allow for transitions.

Play with the framing a bit - try and keep your recording memorable - just don’t make it memorable for the wrong reasons!

When your films recorded, that’s when the inside work starts.

If you’ve filmed on an analogue device, the getting the recording over to your machine is up to you - sorry! If you’ve gone digital, then refer to your device’s manual - it’s generally pretty simple.

If you’re on Windows, then you’ll be looking for something like Windows Movie Maker. On Mac, you’ll want iMovie.

If you’re more than a casual user, you’ll probably have something in a more professional vein - if that’s the case, you probably don’t need anything I’ve got to say on the subject - just go to it, and use your expert knowledge.

The rest of you, read on.

Get all your clips imported - and rough out the order you want them in - this will give you your first rough cut. You should be somewhere near the 15-20 second mark, but don’t matter if you’re a few seconds either side - we’ll get to that bit.

Make a backup copy. Call me paranoid.

One of the great things about Moviemaker and iMovie is that they offer all these nifty little tools for transitions between scenes. In the interests of simplicity, either pick your favorite, or the one that you think fits the subject matter the best, and stick with it. Again, remember you’ve only got 15 seconds, so don’t pick one that takes 5 seconds to complete.

Add in your titles - again, being mindful of the time constraints. There’s no point in having 50 words on the screen, people won’t get time to read it.

Now you’ve got the structure, the content, and, if you’re anything like me, about 25 seconds of content.

Make another backup copy. Call me paranoid again.

Next comes the hard part - trimming down to meet the time constraints. Again, if you’re like me, you’ll end up agonizing over the last few frames, but it’s got to be done. Now, cut out all the fat, all the dead wood, every word, transition, every frame that doesn’t add to your message.

You’re done! Its 15 seconds! It says everything you want it to say! It’s a masterpiece of brevity and content.

FAQ- Should a Tintin Movie Be Made

The upcoming Tintin Movie trilogy follows a recent trend over the last 5 years to turn popular/cult comics into movie. There reasons for this are that it allows movie studios to tap into existing audiences with fans of these comic characters along with the added benefit that the lead character of any movie will be already in the consciousness of much of the movie going public at some level.

The use of comic books for the source of a movie also allows for special effects to be used in such a manor that they cannot be questioned as part of the integrity of the film as often this is the only way to portray the comic character in the most authentic way.

The problem through is that many films get caught up in the largess of special effects and the movies themselves suffer as result as the plot lines and acting in those movies are often very weak.

This leads to some very poor movies getting made that benefit no one from the movie houses involved, the actors involved in the film and it certainly adds no benefit to the much loved comic character that has been portrayed in the film.

The recent spate of films that have angered many comic fan purists include adaptations of the comic/graphic novel characters such as The Punisher, The Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze) and The Daredevil.

These comic/graphic novel characters were successful incarnations that captured the hearts and minds of comic fans and provided an escape to many. Then to see these characters butchered in films that many see as both movie studios and comic creators "cashing in" leave true fans angry and cold.

The question being asked by many is whether a Tintin movie should be made. I have added this debate to my site in a democracy poll I have done. The common consensus is that many true fans do not want to see a movie being made. The Herge creation that is Tintin is a much loved European character and one that many feel should not be adapted especially by Hollywood. The illustrations in the adventure albums drawn by Herge are true works of art that have inspired the likes of Warhol. The true Tintin fans worry that the feel of the albums can never be caught successfully on the big screen.

I believe they can be and that the Tintin movie venture should be embraced. The fact that it has taken 25 years to get to the position now with Steven Spielberg involved in the project is a plus. Spielberg first agreed to create a Tintin movie back the 1980’s and was given the rights to bring the much loved Walloon character to the big screen. At the time Spielberg felt that he could get the look of the movie to be close enough to the feel of the book. The project took a back burner and Spielberg option for the movie ran out.

In the meantime there have been many people linked with the Tintin movie but it could never get made. It took until this year for another deal to be struck. Spielberg is involved once more along with Peter Jackson of Lord of the Ring’s fame.

This can only be good for true Tintin fans. Spielberg himself is a fan and now feels that the look of the albums with the ligne claire illustrations can now be translated to the big screen. This is where Peter Jackson will come in providing valuable technological expertise. Jackson along with his partners as the Weta Workshop will use technology developed for Lord of the Rings. The character Gollum was created by Weta using motion capture techniques on actor Andy Serkis then using key frame animation and subsurface scattering rendering techniques enabled the first completely convincing portrayal of an animated humanoid in a feature film. This technology will bring a realistic portrayal of Tintin to the big screen. Jackson said "We’re making the character look photo realistic; the fibers of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each individual hair. It is possible that the work, certainly the first one will start next year".

The people at Weta devoted one whole year to make sure the look of the Tintin albums were translated to the screen and the 20 minute demo they produced wowed the backers of the Tintin Movie trilogy. It is this dedication to detail and the story telling ability of these two titans of film (Spielberg and Jackson) that should ensure a Tintin movie is made that will please devoted Tintin fans and movie goers in equal

How Movie Fans Find Vacation Gold And More In California

Are you a movie fan that likes to take interesting vacations? Wouldn’t it be fun to take a trip to southern California to see movie filming locations?

California is rich with movie history with many interesting filming spots you can visit. If you have never been to Universal City then this is a good place to start. Here you can go behind the scenes and see sets used repeatedly in the movies. After your tour, visit Universal city walk with dining and shopping if you wish but it’s kinda expensive.

Nevertheless, everyone visits these major attractions and you and I are serious movie buffs and want something more interesting.

The very best place in the world for movie and western history fans is Gene Autry’s Museum of the American West witch is part of The Autry National Center at 4700 Western Heritage Way off interstate 5 near Griffith Park. Let me tell you folks this Museum has the most amazing things you have ever seen. Some exhibits are from movie history and many of the exhibits are real life. Annie Oakley’s true history and the actual gun she used to make it for example will have you saying, “Hey, this girl was the real deal”.

After the museum since you are already in Griffith Park take the drive up to Griffith Planetarium and see the spot where James Dean made Rebel Without a Cause. Remember the school trip and the climactic shoot-out. The studios filmed many movies here in this huge city park. Remember the scene in The Rocketeer in front of the planetarium when he fights the hoods and flies up to the blimp. Other films featuring the Observatory include the Steve Martin’s Hollywood satire Bowfinger, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, the spoofy 1987 film Dragnet with Tom Hanks and Dan Aykroyd.

If you are adventurous and do not mind lot’s of driving, there are many famous filming locations scattered all over southern California. These are houses, stores and malls like the Puente Hills Mall 1600 Azusa Ave. City of Industry, California where in 1985, Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly is accidentally sent back to 1955 in a plutonium-powered DeLorean “time machine” invented by slightly mad scientist Christopher Lloyd.

Some locations can be found on the internet. Some are no longer there but are born again, like the ruins of a demolished steel plant at Fontana, on the outskirts of San Bernardino Route 10 east of Los Angeles where scenes from the Terminator, and future resistance hero John Connor were filmed, is now the California Speedway. Here you can see where Lindsay Lohan made the movie Herbie Fully Loaded and raced the Volkswagen bug with a mind of its own on this racetrack. Not far away in the Lake Arrowhead area is where Lindsay made her first Movie The Parent Trap. You can drive around the lake ( Lake Gregory not Arrowhead ) and discover many scenes from the movie.

North of Los Angeles on highway 14 is an area called Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park. Hundreds of films and commercials are made in this area since they started making movies, including Star Trek IV. The Voyage Home, the Vulcan planet. Vasquez Rocks has been used in hundreds of Westerns and sci-fi movies. The Flintstones, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles, and too many others to name. It is off the beaten path in the middle of the desert but well worth seeing. The entire village of the Flintstones was built here and was open to the public for a while. Just remember that it is a park and after filming is done, the sets are taken away but those crazy rocks are interesting. Take pictures and compare them with movies you see later.

While you are in the area, you must visit The Shambala Preserve for movie and other animals not far away at 6867 Soledad Canyon in Acton. It was started by actress and conservationist Tippi Hedren who is the beautiful blonde in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (And 67 other movies). Mr. Hitchcock said once “Tippi Hedren is really remarkable”. He did not know how right he was even if it was for different reasons. Tippi has devoted much time and effort to charitable causes. Trust me, you will have a great time and be sure to leave Tippi a little donation to help feed those big kitties.

If you plan a trip in October and you do not mind a drive through the desert, you may want to visit The Lone Pine Film Festival. It is held every year in October. This year the dates are October 6th. 7th. & 8th. Taking place in and around the town of Lone Pine California, where filming has continued every year since 1920. Actors and stunt men show up unannounced every year. The area is for sure Hollywood’s favorite movie location for 85 years. Nearly 400 feature films have shot scenes here. It is a huge wilderness area in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains. During the festival, they put up hundreds of little stands with movie photographs on them in the exact spot where they filmed the scene. One of my favorites is the big rocks where Richard Boone held Randolph Scott prisoner in The Tall T. This is where John Wayne made many westerns and in fact, his last public appearance was here in the Great Western Savings commercials.

You never know who may show up at this event. Sometimes actors are filming in the area and just show up. I turned to see why my wife was taking pictures and saw Fred Dryer and Hugh O’Bryan standing beside me. You should see the photo she took of Robert Blake. Because it is not overcrowded, it is easy to talk to someone famous. I have stood on a street corner and talked with Gregory Peck and John Mitchum without anyone bothering us. I talked to Robert Blake and saw him and Dale Evans (Yes Dale Evans) sitting at the same table. I don’t think she cared for his language but she didn’t say so. She told us stories about her and Roy making movies in Lone Pine. Blake complained about how awful it was being a child star but he also told some funny stories.

East of Los Angeles near Palm Springs is an old historic western town called Pioneertown. Gene Autry and Roy Rogers built the place to make western movies. The old western-style saloons and storefronts that once were props for movie cowboys were in danger with the brush fires this year but the firefighters saved them. They still use the town for movies and the last time I checked it was open to the public. It’s in the high desert near Palm Springs.

Since we are near Palm Springs guess what? Even the streets here are named after movie stars. My son and I once sat on a golf course out here asking silly questions to stars as they played golf. I thought it was funny when my son Mark asked Don Knots “Who’s Don Knots”? Don didn’t say anything, he just smiled.

P.S. Don’t forget to research places and events. In the case of most Film Festivals, it’s difficult to get a hotel unless booked months in advance. We used to stay a few miles away in the town of Big Pine. Don’t forget to take pictures and get ready for the best Vacation Ever!

Dinner And Movie - A Classic Date

A dinner and a movie has always and will always be considered a classic date and many couples whether they are married or not actually perceive this to be a great activity to be able to intimately bond with each other. This classic date works both ways on whether you have money to spend or on a rather tight date budget.

If you are celebrating an occasion like maybe an anniversary or any memorable date for that matter, you can melt your honey’s heart with a romantic dinner at some fancy restaurant and a movie after. You can choose a restaurant that you probably haven’t been to, a restaurant significant for both of you or a restaurant that your honey has wanted to eat at. It is advised to always reserve in advance especially for restaurants that are frequented by many loyal customers. If possible have the best table reserved or if the restaurant is located at a scenic spot have the area with the best view chosen.

If not familiar with the restaurant’s menu have the waiter help you select your choices or ask for his choice preference. If you know the restaurant’s best seller you can order for both you and your date (that is if it is okay for your date) or you can let him or her select his or her choice. For any dinner date it should be the man who will order from the waiter. It should go something like “She will be having” and I will be ordering. Enjoy your dinner with a light conversation as you savor your meal.

After dinner, a romantic movie date would be perfect to cap off the night. You can choose a classic movie or a current romantic flick would do. You can watch it at a movie theater or for a more intimate time together you can rent a DVD and watch it intimately in the comfort of the home.

A great alternative to the expensive dinner would be having a dinner at home that both you and your date personally prepared. You can find a lot of easy to prepare recipes and knowing that you made the meal yourselves makes sharing the meal together more heart warming and satisfying. You can be hands on from the shopping of the ingredients to the preparation and the actual cooking. This is ideal especially for those who are tight on the budget.

The important aspect of any date is not how expensive the meal is but it is how you and your date make the occasion special as you enjoy each other’s company.

Movie Stars and The Best In Aspen Hotels

If you are planning to travel any time soon it would be worth your while to look into visiting Colorado and staying at any one of many fine Aspen hotels. Perhaps you are getting away from home for awhile or perhaps you are heading out with a group of business associates, it doesn’t matter, Aspen is place you just have to visit!

Think about it! From one of the Aspen hotels tucked up in the mountains you can head out on a hiking excursion in the morning, come back for lunch and a change of clothes and go golfing in the afternoon. After that you can find some fine dining and sit out on the patio and watch the sun dip behind the mountains, or of course, go skiing. There aren’t many places you can do all that without even having to drive anywhere.

Or maybe outdoor sports aren’t your thing. Booking Aspen hotels also avails you of unique shopping and entertainment opportunities. Spend the day looking through quaint shops for the most interesting gifts and searching the coffee shops for the perfect moccha. Visit in the winter and there is a good chance you can take in some of the HBO Comedy Festival, held in Aspen every year. Not many people would pass up the opportunity to have a good laugh.

Laughter is something Aspen has become somewhat famous for, and the Comedy festival isn’t the only reason. In 1994 the movie “Dumb and Dumber” brought Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels to the area playing Harry and Floyd, two wandering souls from Rhode Island who set out for Aspen Colorado to find the girl of their dreams. Stumbling across a briefcase of cash, Harry and Floyd decided to live it up and made Aspen hotels a key part of their misadventures. Don’t worry, you can be fairly sure things have been cleaned up since they left!

Of course, these aren’t the only stars who have been known to frequent the Aspen area. Actors and actresses such as Jack Nicholson, Kevin Costner and Goldie Hawn, to name a few, have all taken up residence in this mountain town. Star-gazing could be considered another one of the activities on your itinerary.

Whatever you decide to do in Aspen you’ll enjoy the fact that it has all the amenities of home but its rugged surroundings remind you that you are anywhere but! Named for the trees which are so prevalent in the area, Aspen is a place where you can enjoy golfing, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, hiking, shopping, fine dining, mountain biking, and even Alpine touring. Aspen hotels put all these opportunities right out your front door.

So next time you are planning for your next trip and you think a stop in Colorado might be on the horizon, be sure to remember that Aspen hotels may be just the thing.

What They Don't Advertise about Downloadable Movie Sites

The ability to legally download major studio films is an exciting new opportunity offered by both MovieLink and CinemaNow. However, there are some restrictions hidden in the fine print that you should know about before signing up for one of these services. In this article, we’ll compare the top two movie downloading services; CinemaNow and MovieLink.

Cost

These two movie downloading services have completely different pricing structures. When using MovieLink, you will pay per flick at a cost of $1.99 for older flicks and $3.95 for new releases. On the other hand, CinemaNow offers an unlimited subscription at a rate of $29.95 per month or $99.95 per year. So although the prices are set, the cost of each of these downloadable movie services ultimately depends on your movie watching habits.

You don’t get to watch movies over a several day period as you would if you were renting from Netflix or from the video store. Each rental is only available for a 24 hour viewing period. This doesn’t mean that you have to start watching it within 24 hours. Rather, once you begin the movie, you must finish it within 24 hours. With either downloadable movie service you can store movies on your hard drive for up to thirty days

Burning DVD’s

Here is the answer to the question everyone wants to know… can you burn the movies to DVDs? The answer is yes and no. This is where you must really dig into the fine print to get a clear explanation.

CinemaNow advertises that you can burn movies to DVD, but they don’t make it clear just how many movies you can burn to DVD. In order to be able to burn a movie to DVD, the movie must have ‘download and burn’ rights.

The number of movies available for download and burn will constantly be in flux, but as of last count, only about 100 titles were available with download and burn rights. Another point to consider is that most of these are older titles. A studio is not likely to allow you to burn a movie that is in high demand in stores.

Buried deep within MovieLink’s FAQ page is information about their buy and burn option. With MovieLink, you can burn movies that you have already purchased from them. You can’t burn rentals. Also, you can only burn them to a CD, not a DVD.

Compatibility

In order to use MovieLink, you must be a Windows user. Furthermore, you must be using IE, not Firefox or any other browser. And while the CinemaNow site is cross-browser friendly, there are issues for Mac users when it comes to watching movies. At this time, CinemaNow is only available for Mac users running Windows OS on a dual core computer thought they do say they are working on a solution.

The Tintin Movie - Kirsten Myburgh To Play Tintin

The Tintin movie rumour mill is starting to crank up. The biggest amount of speculation is who is set to play Tintin. Kirsten Myburgh has been linked to the lead role for a while. There have been many actors linked to the Tintin character. The Tintin movie to be directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson is going to be big box office. The Tintin movie trilogy is due to be completed by 2009. Jackson and Spielberg are producing the three Tintin movies back to back to cut cost and speed up the film making process as Jackson did with the Lord of the Rings.

Whoever gets the lead role will see his stock rose on a seen with Daniel Radcliffe who through the Harry Potter series became recognised around the world. Kirsten Myburgh like Daniel Radcliffe before Harry Potter isn’t known by the movie going public at large. He is an actor who’s only credit we could find was in a film called Garden Party that was completed early this year. There us little else known about this young actor. The Tintin forums though have picked up on this name from somewhere and there is definatley a bandwagon growing in support of this actor for the lad role in the upcoming Tintin movie trilogy.

If Kristin were to get the role his stock would definitely rise and if they make decide to go ahead with the trilogy then like Daniel Radcliffe he could see himself becoming a millionaire. Daniel Radcliffe is estimated to be worth at least 20 million GB pounds.

It is fair to say he has all the requirements that make him an ideal choice with his natural red hair and he is the looks the right age for the role (Tintin fans estimate that Georges Herge created a young man who’s age is between 15 and 18 years old). The chances are that if he has been linked with the role then there maybe some truth behind the rumour. The facts surrounding the Tintin movie are had to pin down as there has been a lot of secrecy. It will be interesting to see how this story develops. There have been other actors also linked to the role and one is Rupert Grint who himself stars in the Harry Potter films. There is one other likely candidate in Simon Pegg who is known from the films he wrote and starred "Hot Fuzz" and also "Shaun of the Dead".

Why Comic Book And Movie Superheroes Are Still Popular

We all love to watch comic book movies like X-Men, Daredevil and Spiderman they are movies for the whole family. So why do we love comic book movies and superheroes so much? Are we really interested in mutants and giant green men more than we are real people? The box office numbers would say that we are. Millions of dollars are spent each year to go to movies that star superheroes and comic book characters.

The technology to make these movies is increasingly easy to use. Some studios spend thousands of dollars to make their movies but it is possible to only spend a couple thousand dollars and make an animated movie. Superhero movies are not always animated some of the most popular movies are actually live action movies that star superheroes.

The amazing special effects that we see when watching a superhero movie keep us interested throughout the movie. Most of the current movies even have romances to help incorporate the female audience. Plus many of the superhero movies today are toning down the violence so they can earn a PG rating and gather younger fans.

Superheroes are the ideal that many people want to live up to. People like the idea of saving others and fighting against evil. The idealistic view of superheroes is something that we grow up with as children. At a very young age we start collecting superhero action figures and playing games pretending that we’re superheroes.

The super strength of these characters is often a fantasy of many children. The idea of being invisible, invulnerable or being able to fly is something that many children wish they could do. In fact, many adults wish they could do that also. The superhuman powers that superheroes have are only one characteristic that bonds us to the ideals and fantasy of superheroes.

With every movie that is released the matching action figures are released also. So every child that sees the movie will then want to go purchase the matching action figure of its favorite movie star. So there is something much larger behind the comic book and superhero movies than just money. Children really love these stars they incorporate them into their daily fantasies, they even get Halloween costumes so they can look like their favorite superheroes.

Superhero comic books and movies are very popular and they do not look like they’re going anywhere soon. Children and adults enjoy watching the superhero movies and comic book movies. These movies are becoming popular with pretty much the whole family. Whether you collect superhero figures or watch superhero movies superheroes are a part of most of our lives; a fantasy that we look to as an escape from our current realities.

That DVD movie rental offers are so numerous can only be to our benefit. The advantage of choice is obvious. But what is also being offered is the method of delivery.

Wouldn’t it be great if we just knew that we could watch a different movie every evening without going to the store to physically get it and bring it home? Eating Disorder Movie Highlights Current Health Issue

Eating disorder movie finally debuts on the cinema. The documentary titled Thin examines the issues of girl culture of being stick-skinny and its mental and physical consequences. The show debuts at a time when there is increasing concerns about young girls and women who are obsessed with the ideas of being thin and looking attractive.

The documentary follows the various ups and downs of four women with eating disorders and in their bid to become thin. It also examines the social impact to those with eating disorders.

In one particular scene, a father finds it difficult to understand why his daugther cannot just snap out of her eating habits. From this, the documentary hopes to spread the message that people with eating disorders do actually have emotional illness. As such, it is not easy for a person with an eating disorder to stop the abnormal behaviour just like that. The mental state of an eating disorder sufferer is admittedly complex and not easy to fully understand.

In another scene in the documentary, one of the women brings her own food to a family Thanksgiving dinner. This scene depicts a real example that eating disorders can cause someone to isolate himself or herself or withdraw totally from company.

Many accuse the media for causing the eating disorder trend. Young teenagers and women are constantly bombarded by media images of models who look stick thin. A fad that started in Los Angeles had designers using size zero models. Size zero models look anorexic. These clearly have a negative effect on the body image of a person.

However, eating disorders all boil down to this. Those at the greatest risk of developing eating disorders have low self esteem and confidence. They measure their self worth on their perceived acceptance by society. Usually, these people have poor family support or have gone through some psychological trauma from young

In many cases, those with an eating disorder mental health problem will go to great lengths to ensure that they look stick thin. They choose to survive on very little and at the end of their meals, vomit out what they had just consumed. However, they will end up hurting and creating damage to their bodies with these eating habits.

Thankfully, more is being done to help those with eating disorders. There are treatment centers now being set up for inpatient care, in recognition of the growing number of cases of anorexia and bulimia.

Enjoy All Of Your Favorite Movie Classics On Satellite And Cable

There is a reason movies become classics. The stories a good and the performers are great. Often in the old movies the story line was very simple, but a great actor can take a plain Jane role and turn it into a must see event. For example, in a Charlie Chaplin movie the entire plot was based on him trying to get home for dinner. He would take this simple act that everyone can do every day and turn into an event of hilarious proportions.

The best reason to watch classic movies is that they are very family friendly. Many of the classic movies didn’t have sex, cursing, or violence. Even though some of these things may have been part of the plot they were not shown in graphic detail, but implied. This makes it easier for children to watch and does not give them night mares. It was Alfred Hitchcock who said “there is nothing more frightening than an unopened door”. And that is a very true statement from a horror film genius.

There are now many channels on cable and satellite television that allows you to view these classic movies. One of these channels is American Movie Classics (AMC). On this channel there is usually a host of the movie who will give you a summary of what to expect and even some hidden features that can be missed if you aren’t looking for them. One of them is actors in small roles before they were famous. It can give a look at what your favorite actor might have experienced before their big break. There are even movies with sub titles that tell interesting facts about the making of the movie.

Another place to find classics is in the video store. There have been many movies redone in recent years. But it is fun to get a copy of the original to see how different or the same they are. Different actors have different views on how to play the same character. For example, in The Shining, with Jack Nicholson, he played the main character as someone who was slowly losing his mind. In the recent version with Steven Weber as the main character he played it with more understanding and was more of a victim than aggressor.

Classic movies can also give you a glimpse of the past. Usually in movies that were considered modern when they were made, can give those of us in the future a look at what life at that time was like. From fashion to interior decorating it is a slice of history that is hard to explain in words but can be presented with a flourish on film.

Kidman In New Monte Carlo Movie

Nicole Kidman, the epitome of Hollywood glamour and once famously described after a role in a London stage play as ‘theatrical viagra’ is set to produce and star in a new romantic comedy for the big screen set in Monaco, and titled appropriately enough ‘Monte Carlo’.

The new film will offer moviegoers not only Nicole’s fantastic acting abilities and beauty, but also the splendor of one of the world’s hottest tourist attractions. Directed by Tom Bezucha, filming the adaptation of the comedy novel ‘Headhunters’ has experienced fits and starts for more than a year prior to Kidman heading off to Monaco recently.

Monte Carlo, known for the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, the Hotel de Paris in Casino Square and the sandy beaches facing the Mediterranean, will enthrall viewers from around the world as Kidman struts her stuff in her latest role, a romantic comedy about a teacher who takes a vacation with her friends in Paris and ends up pretending to be a wealthy woman vacationing in Monte Carlo.

Monte Carlo is best known for its elegant casinos and glamour, a hot spot for movie stars and tourists since former Hollywood actress Grace Kelly put Monte Carlo and Monaco on the world map. Since then, Monte Carlo and Monaco have become the getaway for the stars, as well as home to celebrities from around the world due in large part to her tax haven status.

Divided into four quarters, Monaco is a tiny principality, the second smallest country in the world, that manages to attract visitors from around the world every year, many who come for business, though the vast majority come to see her pristine beach fronts, to gamble and to enjoy some of the best dining found in the world.

Monaco is home to world class opera and theatre, such as the Grand Theatre de Monte Carlo, as well as the Monte Carlos Masters golf championship, car shows and of course, fashion. As a resort, Monaco and Monte Carlo come in second to none, and were made even more popular with the James Bond films created in the 1960s.

Monte Carlo and Monaco have provided backgrounds and settings for dozens of movies, both those filmed from Hollywood as well as film companies around the world. There’s just something special about her sunsets, her streets and her towering cliffs and valleys that captures the eye and transcends borders, especially on film.

So, if there’s anything such as a working holiday, Kidman will most certainly make the best of her location shots in Monaco. As a matter of fact, curiosity goers and locals may even spot her, if they’re lucky, on the streets or one of Monte Carlo’s most famous hotels, the Hotel de Paris in Casino Square. While Monaco, and most particularly Monte Carlo, is no stranger to film cameras, locals and travelers alike are delighted when they’re fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the rich and famous.

The best thing about Monaco, and Monte Carlo in particular, is that there’s always something for everyone to occupy their days and nights. Whether its sports, gambling, clubbing or just laying around on the beaches, Monaco treats every tourist to the best it has to offer. Still, Monaco and Monte Carlo are not just a destination for the rich and famous, and more travelers from around the world these days are making the small principality their favorite travel destination as well, thanks to special deals made with airlines and hotel chains around the globe. Dare to exceed your wildest expectations when it comes time to plan your next trip or vacation and check out the wealth of opportunities that both Monte Carlo and Monaco have to offer.

FAQ - Is The Tintin Movie Going to Destroy Tintin Herge’s Much Loved Comic Creation

The view of many is that a Tintin movie should never be made even though those behind the project argue they will make a true recreation of the Tintin ligne claire style of the adventure comic written by Tintin’s creator Herge. Here is an argument to suggest a Tintin movie would never work as a Hollywood blockbuster.

I’m wondering whether the narrative style and the character of Tintin is well-suited with the way Hollywood films (especially children’s/family films) are scripted in modern cinema. The problem for any Tintin movie is that Tintin lacks "back-story", i.e.: no relatives, no account for his lack of family, no psychosomatic "issues" about his lack of family, etc. Tintin is just a teenage reporter characterised in a world of adventure by often with his fox terrier companion Snowy but otherwise nothing but the clothes he stands up in, with strong qualities of allegiance, inventiveness, cheerfulness, doggedness and valour, but not much in the way of a unknown angst or thoughts and what makes Tintin, Tintin. I think Tintin’s simple canvas character (harmonized by ease of the way he’s sketched) is what allows Tintin’s adventures to be so delightful to read, especially for families and children. He’s a kind of standard, like the youthful hero in many a folk tale or myth: a hero whom a booklover can easily visualize themselves to be.

While this kind of youthful, straightforward, mysterious hero would fit well into the sort of movies that Herge would have been watching when he invented Tintin - the silent movies of Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, etc. Is it possible visualise it installed into the kind of movies Hollywood makes today? Look at the recent Disney Winnie the Pooh films, for instance, in which Tigger (being the only one of his kind) needs to go off and try to trace his Tigger roots, and Piglet needs to find his inner-hog or determine issues about being diminutive. Then take the recent film version of The Cat in the Hat where the two children seem to have been given psychological hang-ups and issues for the cat to psychoanalyze. The film most recently guilty was the terrible and redundant sequel, Jungle Book 2, in which Mowgli has to resolve his inner-conflict between his early life with Baloo and his new life with the human beings.

None of this psychoanalysis exists in the original adventures these films will be founded on. I’ve often questioned if the periodical meetings on a life-coaches’s couch has grown to be such a regular part of life in LA that screenwriters and producers there basically can’t visualize having a principal individual that doesn’t need some sort of psychoanalysis as they make their way through a movie.

Some children’s/family films handle psychological stuff well, such as The Incredibles or the Shrek films, but these tend to be films with original stories, rather than films adapted from earlier books. It’s the shoe-horning of psychological issues into existing story bound characters who just don’t necessitate it that seems so erroneous. But guessing that modern audiences have come to expect this, and that might be the central dilemma. Can Spielberg make a movie which preserves Tintin’s down-to-earth character, but in a way that doesn’t make the film seem two-dimensional to a modern audience?

Raiders of the Lost Ark suggests that Spielberg is capable of such a leap. Even though the central character, Indiana Jones, has a machismo, sexuality and sarcasm that would of course be quite a mistake for Tintin, he is at least a refreshingly straightforward and unexplained heroand a humble adventurer destined to do good deeds. Who is where he is, and does what he does, with little need for exhibition, justification or with any historical context.

However, the third Indiana Jones film, The Last Crusade - in which we see something of Indiana’s childhood and in which Indiana exhausts a large amount of the movie get to the bottom of his issues with his father - advocates that Spielberg too has been drawn into the widespread Hollywood conviction that even archetypal adventurers need to spend some time on the analyst’s couch.

It seems a lot of care that much about a Tintin film being made. If it’s good, great, but surely Herge put more than enough movement into his ligne claire drawings anyhow, and more than enough filmic control into his adventure comics. The only positive for most people is that the new Tintin Movie introduces a whole new audience to a much loved character.

Projection Screens For Movie Theatres

Projection screens are special screens used to project an image for the audience. Movie theatres use projection screens on a wide scale. These screens are used in conferences or home theatres as well. The screens serve different purposes in different places. Therefore they are installed in various ways.

The projection screens can be wall-mounted type, pull down type or mobile type. Wall mounted types are needed for exact reproduction of the picture. Movie halls and home theatres use this type of screen. The second type, that is pull down screens do not need a fixed place, they can be used as and when required. Mobile screens are pull down screens mounted on a free stand but the projection of pictures are not perfect in these projection screens.

Projection screens are always matte white or matte grey. This helps in the perfect colour projection of the slides, otherwise, the pictures or images might get discoloured. Matte grey screens or grey screens reflect less light from the projector, they also absorb less light from the room. Image brightness ratio is correctly maintained and many call these projection screens high contrast screens.

The screens may be flat or curved, but flat screens are the preferred ones. Projection screens are used for both back and front projection. The light that is projected on the screen is diffusely reflected by the front projection screens. Back projection screens work differently. The light that is projected on them is diffusely transmitted through the screens.

Like any other consumer items projection screens can be of high quality and bad quality. It depends on how much the prospective buyer is going to pay for a screen. Obviously high quality screens will have higher price tags. It is advisable to go through the details of the product before purchasing. Many manufacturers give a detailed list of what they are offering.

Projection screens are mainly required for commercial purposes like in cinema halls or conference rooms, but individuals might buy them for their home theatre.

The buyer has to decide on the screen size. Minimum and maximum viewing distance has to be taken in to account. Minimum viewing distance is the distance closest to the screen from where the viewer can see the whole picture. Maximum viewing distance is the distance furthest from the screen, from which the picture as a whole can be seen.

There is a formula for calculating this, but those not strong in mathematics can depend on reliable makers who manufacture screens taking everything in to consideration.

Rent Movie Soundtrack Review

The multiple award-winning musical Rent is based on opera of Puccini, La Boheme. It has been playing on Broadway since 1996 and is one of the longest running shows. In 2005, the movie based on Rent was released and, like the musical itself, has gained a cult following. The soundtrack album became available on CD soon after.

The story follows a group of eight Bohemian friends living in modern New York over the course of a year, specifically 1989-1990. It is a heartfelt look at ups and downs of life and how the various characters deal with addiction, loss, relationships, housing, AIDS and the meaning of life itself.

A number of the original songs were deleted during the movie adaptation and do not appear on the movie soundtrack in order to create more space for dialogue and produce a more free-flowing plot. Some purists or Rentheads feel that the soundtrack is not complete because of the removal of these songs. For everyone else, especially those who have not seen the Broadway version, the movie is a brutally honest look at life with aspects that most can relate to. The Rent movie soundtrack has the same rock opera feel to it as the original musical score and is filled with 28 moving, uplifting and ultimately, inspiring songs.

Seasons of Love is perhaps the best known of all of the songs. Unlike in the musical, this song opens the movie. A re-mixed version, featuring the legendary Stevie Wonder, was also released. The entire cast sings and the song revolves around them trying to decide how you measure a year apart from in minutes. They calculate that there are five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes in a year and each suggests other methods of quantifying a year but reach the conclusion that love is the one correct gauge of a year in a life of a human. Seasons of Love is the perfect opening and acts as a teaser to the rest of the tracks on this compilation .

The original theme song of the musical, Rent, follows as the film opens in the East Village of New York on Christmas Eve, 1989. Roger and Mark are trying to avoid being evicted from their previously rent-free apartment. Another outstanding song on the Rent movie soundtrack is the duet Take Me or Leave Me where Maureen and her lesbian lover Joanne are having a quarrel at an engagement announcement party hosted by the parents of Joanne. The local bar is the perfect setting for the energetic rendition of La Vie Boheme. It captures the nonconformity of the main characters, which is further emphasized by everyone dancing on the tables.

The Rent movie soundtrack is a must-have for anyone who has seen the movie. Fans of the original musical will also enjoy reliving the songs, particularly because the majority of the original cast members were involved in the film and also appear on the movie soundtrack.

PSP Movie Downloads - The Newest Trend

Most people consider PSP only as a game cum music player which is portable. But in truth it is a very handy piece of equipment if you want to watch videos, listen to music in the MP3 format or simply stay connected to the internet with the aid of an integrated Wi-Fi union. So you can also say that the USP of Play station Portable or a PSP is its flexibility.

To download a PSP movie you need a CD ripper and a PSP video converter if you want to download top class movie to your PSP. A CD ripper allows the consumer to “rip off” or “pull out” the music from the CD. First you have to upload the music on to the CD, and then you have to select it. After you have selected the movie you want to download you have to extract and then press the encode key. Then only you can download the movie into the PSP.

You can download both movie and music into the PSP from a PC too. For this you need a USB cable. You first have to connect the USB cable to the PC and the PSP simultaneously and then MP3 files can be downloaded into the PSP. If there are already movie files on your PC, then all that you have to do is press “add” from your CD ripper. It is not in the least difficult to transfer audio and video files from the PC to the PSP. The PSP video converter converts all required audio and video files to PSP formats.

The PSP of Sony is a direct challenge to the monopoly of all others. It is soon going to release software that will enable the PSP to synchronize with common standard PCs. The PSP will work in harmony with your PC and you will be able to download high quality movies.

So it can be said that currently, the Sony PSP is the most powerful hand held multimedia device which is very suitable for playing games, running movies and has outstanding capabilities where audio and video quality is concerned. It has even launched a free site for downloading movies and music.

All the websites are pampering and spoiling you with innumerable options. The number one choice in this category seems to be the personal players. Hence go ahead and download your free movie today!

What Makes A Movie A Blockbuster?

Blockbuster movies are extremely expensive to make, involving big named stars and costly special effects. Literally millions of dollars are spent on them with the hopes that the returns will more than make up for their cost. It’s these movies that studios depend upon to keep the money flowing and a bad movie can cost the company dearly.

The success or failure of a movie is often determined by the sales of tickets during the first weekend it’s premiered. In an effort to pump up these sales, many studios do, “advanced screenings”, to get positive feedback that they can use for advertisements. These screenings also let the studios know what to anticipate in public reviews.

With the rising cost of movie tickets, a lot of people hesitate to go see them, so the studios employ high profile, expensive actors to lure the public in. They also use special visual effects to dazzle the audience and suspenseful plots that will hopefully keep them riveted to their seats.

Most movie studios know what the public wants to see when they go to the movies. Some studios have been pleasantly surprised by movies that cost little to make in comparison to the blockbusters, but have developed a “cult” following, such as the black and white movie, “Night of the Living Dead” or the still popular, “Rocky Horror Picture Show”. In an effort to continue to profit from old popular movies, they often try to make remakes of them but usually without the same result. One such movie was “King Kong”, which was done several times. People go to see these movies with the hope that they will be as good as the original one, or to let their children experience them the way they did when they were children.

Another tactic that the studios are using is to make sequels of popular movies. The Matrix trilogy brought in a lot of profit, as did the, “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Harry Potter movies are anticipated long before they come out and the movie studios know that they will be able to count on making huge profits from them.

Another way that studios profit from these movies is by selling merchandise that represents the characters in them, which can range from dolls to videogames. They also make money on the DVD sales and rentals and employ popular music artists to record soundtracks, so they can sell the CDs and increase their profits even more.

Blockbuster movies will always be a form of entertainment that the multitudes will walk away from their televisions to go see. There is nothing like getting a box of popcorn and losing yourself in a great movie that’s shown on the silver screen.

Making Sense of Movie Downloading

First there were Movie Theaters then came Multiplexes and then home cinema arrived. From Betamax through VHS. From VHS onto DVD. And now digital and HDTV! We all know the story so far - but may find it confusing!

Are you up to date with the latest developments? Are you new to the Internet and totally bemused by all the jargon?

Do you know your P2P from your DVD? Do you confuse your MP3 and MPEG4? Have you got your codecs and plug-ins set up correctly and not exceeded your bandwidth? What does it all mean and does it matter if all you want to do is watch some movies?

The terms get longer, the speed of change is faster, the confusion increases. Whilst I watch a downloadable film on my laptop my uncle needs to help to program his old VHS recorder! This speed of change is opening up a huge gulf between different users and this gap seems to continue to grow.

You can now easily download movies to watch when you want, with perfect digital quality. You can even watch them where you want - perhaps download movies to you ipod or burn movies to DVD and watch on any laptop or on the TV as normal.

But to do so it helps to learn the new language and if you are interested in joining in the movie downloading then some basic knowledge of the essential terminology will help.

So where to start? Let’s start with something we think we know:

DVD: “Digital Versatile Disc” or “Digital Video Disc” - these discs look like CDs (compact discs) but hold more data and are now used for storing digital movies. A rewriteable DVD can also be used for storing your music and computer files. There is no space here to explain the difference between all these permutations - DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and the rest - that would be a separate article in itself!

Clearly when a movie is downloaded you are not downloading an actual DVD! So when you download a movie what do you actually download? It is quite simply a computer file - but of course they come in many types! Here are the main bits of movie file jargon you may come across.

MPEG-4: this is a standard for a file for video and audio, compiled by the “Moving Picture Experts Group” (hence MPEG) and it is their 4th version of the standard. So you can now download movies in MPEG-4 format - but this can take time as the files are so large!

DivX: developed by DivXNetworks, this is a file that enables fast movie downloads without losing any picture quality - and DivX is also based on the MPEG-4 video file standard that we mentioned above.

Codec: although it sounds mysterious, this is a piece of software that enables file COmpression and DECompression to transfer it across the internet.

MP3: short for “MPEG Audio Layer 3″ - from MPEG again. This is for digital audio only, it uses a compression method that means smaller file sizes. You lose some information but most people can’t hear the reduction in quality. So it’s great for music downloading and playing audio on an MP3 player. But this is only for music, not for movies.

P2P: short for peer to peer. This is one popular method of sharing and downloading millions of movie and music files. Peer-to-peer is a form of computer network that does not rely on a server and client, but each computer is a peer or equal - great for downloading and sharing home video and audio content. Even with compressed files it can take time and sharing the load amongst several computers is a clever way to harness the power of the internet.

So when you’ve downloaded the files - how do you watch them?

On Windows PCs these files will usually play without a problem on the standard Windows Media Player, particularly if you have the latest version.

For Apple Macs QuickTime is both a file format and a player. Designed by Apple Computers QuickTime has been around a while. You can download the player from the Apple website and you can run it on a windows PC.

Having mentioned Apple it would be difficult not to mention the iPod. But playing movies on iPods and other portable players is another topic entirely!

Online Movie Rental - The Advantages Of Renting Movies Online

Nowadays, when you watch the TV, you might have noticed a few commercials talking about an online movie rental service or two. You probably saw them and wondered what is all this about. Well you will find out exactly what online movie rental is and how you can choose whether or not you will benefit from using the service.

Movie Rental Store Versus Website

Convenience is the first word that comes to mind when anyone thinks of a rental service. Some people find it difficult to get to the movie rental store and rent their favorite DVDs for a variety of reasons. One such reason is the fact that parents with young kids might not want to take their children into the rental store. Another reason might be that a person just lives too far away to visit the rental store regularly.

Another popular reason that causes people to use an online rental service is the lack of late fees. If you find yourself with little time to watch a movie or are unable to return the movie on time to an offline rental store, you will incur late fee that can really add up. With an online movie service, you avoid late fees.

How it all works

Trust me; it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to operate an online movie rental service. It is very simple. All you have to do is sign up for the service, pay the monthly fee for the package you choose, then pick the movies you want to see on their website. After you have chosen the movies, the service will then send the movies directly to your mailbox. After you have finished viewing them, you send them back in the envelope they provide for you, shipping is on the company.

Depending on the company and the package you choose, you will find various monthly charges ranging from around $10 and up. The more DVD’s you choose to have out at any given time, the higher the monthly fees will be. Generally, the services only allow you to pay a monthly fee for up to three movies at any given time. You will not have to pay any late fees or shipping charges; you keep the movies for as long as you want to, and then return them when you are ready for more.

Who can join?

When joining an online movie rental service, there are only two specific things you absolutely must have to join: Credit Card and Internet Connection. You use your credit card to guarantee the payment and it is generally used to pay the monthly fees as well, but some services are branching out, allowing members to make payments via electronic check as well. All you need to do is fill out a form with your information, wait for verification and begin choosing your movies.

Choosing Movies

No matter which online movie rental service you choose to join, you will find literally thousands of movies to pick from. Generally, this includes classic favorites and new releases. Most services offer comprehensive search options and user reviews that can help you in deciding which movies you want to see. As you choose movies and place them in your queue, your movies are sent to your mailbox in the order you place them on your list. If a movie is not available, they will move down to the next one listed on your list. Before joining any particular online movie rental service, you will want to consider taking advantage of the free trial that most offer, usually fourteen days. The last time you went to the rental store, may have very well have been the last.

Summary:

Nowadays, when you watch television, you are likely to see a few commercials talking about an online movie rental service or two. You probably saw them and wondered what is all this about. Well, you will find out exactly what online movie rental is and how you can choose whether or not you will benefit from using the service.

The Art of Continuity in Movie Making

There are ten million film makers in America today. Most of them are amateurs, but the number who migrates to professional ranks grows constantly as television enlarges its demands for motion pictures of all kinds.

Pictorial continuity is the indispensable framework of every soundly constructed motion picture, whether it is a Hollywood epic, TV film, newsreel, documentary, cartoon or home movie.

Without it, any movie, no matter how elaborately or expensively made, is amateurish; but with it, the raw beginner can achieve a professional touch. It is the answer to how to shoot a movie story.

The Meaning of Continuity

Pictorial continuity is a rather fancy term, but we like it, because it states so precisely what we’re out to describe. The dictionary explains "continuity" as an "uninterrupted, close union of separate parts". Pictorial continuity, therefore, in a fully rounded definition, would be the proper development and connection of motion-picture sequences to create a smoothly joined, coherent motion-picture story.

The Long Shot

We say these elements are simple and that they correspond to the stages by which the human eye views action.

This first shot which establishes the scene is the long shot, the "LS".

Well, then, take your first long shot. Pick up your camera and guided by what your eye sees in the viewfinder, shoot.

Right now, your LS can be taken from a nice, steady, stationary position. From where you stand in the doorway, you are far enough back to take in your subject and a great deal of his surroundings - enough to establish the locale.

You and your eye want to get as close to your subject as you can. As you move in toward your subject, your eye instantly, automatically, and continuously keeps readjusting itself to the changing perspective and proportions of the scene. It takes in increasingly more and more of your subject’s face, hair, shoulders, tie, shirt, the articles on his desk and less and less of the rest of his surroundings, such as the wall, the window, and the body of the desk

This is the way you want it. After all, the vital part of the scene is your subject, not his location. You want to cut out as much of the extraneous, distracting locale as you can, and come as close to his face as your eye, and politeness, will allow. This is your close-up, the heart of your picture.

The Medium Shot

But before discussing the close-up, we must look at the technique by which we duplicate the eye’s transition from long shot to close-up with the camera. This brings forth the inevitable question. Why is a transition shot needed at all?

The argument is a follows: We say that the close-up is the heart of the picture. We take the LS, which no one disputes is essential for establishing the location of the scene. So, once the scene is established, why waste the audience’s time and the photographer’s film on a transition shot, why not go directly to the close-up?

A great jump will not do. It is too abrupt. There must be a midway or transition shot - the medium shot.

The medium shot, or "MS", is transition shot bridging the jump from long shot to close-up, and building up the subject.

The Close-up

It is the close-up, the "CU", to which the LS and MS, properly executed, pave the way.

When your camera takes its close-up. your audience will see your subject’s face, his head and shoulders filling the screen, his every expression vivid and alive. In the full meaning of the term, he will be "big as life".

It is sadly neglected by the home movie cameraman today.

Now you know the basics of continuity, which will make your movie "come alive".

The Prerequisites Needed To Watch Free Movie Online

Can you really watch free movies online? You sure can. However, there are several different ways you can do this. First, it is necessary to have a good understanding of what types of movies you can watch, as well as which one are really free. Many sites commonly known as peer-to-peer networks are available in which members exchange video files with other members which they have on their computers. They typically have to use a specific software in order to watch free movies online.

For the most part, there are no costs involved with sharing, except sometimes, where you may be asked to pay a small fee that contributes towards sharing software technical support. By doing this, you can share any files you feel you require. However, one thing to remember is that most of the movies that you find being shared are in fact often illegal and break the copyright laws set forth by the government. Site owners protect themselves with a disclaimer that asks members to be responsible in sharing. However, many people are lured because they are able to instantly download many of the recent movie releases.

You should understand the penalties that are associated with copyright infringement - they can be large penalties, and it is your responsibility to be watchful. You should also prevent your children from illegally watching free movies online whilst sharing. Depending on your internet service provider (ISP) you can take steps to ensure that neither you nor your children access illegal free movies.

One method of watching free movies on the internet, without facing potential lawsuits or costs, is to find public domain movies. These movies become public domain after the copyright on that particular title has expired. Some companies renew their copyrights and some do not. If they do not renew the copyright any person can view, share, or distribute the movie any way they see fit. You could even post it on a website and stream it so that other people can watch it without having to worry about the possible repercussions.

You will need to have software installed on your computer in order to watch free movie online. Generally this means Windows Media Player or QuickTime. If you have a computer graphic card that boasts of a television out line, you may be able to view the movie on your television screen as well.

Some people do not particularly want to watch movies online on their computer. If that is the case, you might want to download the movie and then burn it onto a DVD, which will allow you to watch it on your DVD player and television. For some people, this means a higher quality viewing. There are several formats that will work with your DVD player, just make sure that you obtain the right one before burning it.

If necessary, you can find a file converter. The duration of your download will depend on many things such as bandwidth, internet connection, and movie file size. To put this in perspective, if you are downloading a seven-hundred megabyte file, with a 512 kbps connection speed and a 64KB/s transfer rate, it would take you about three hours to download your movie file. If you have an internet connection that is slower, it may be feasible for you to simply watch free movie online, than to download the movie all day.

Summary:

Can you really watch free movies online? You sure can. However, there are several different ways you can do this. First, it is necessary to have a good understanding of what types of movies to watch, as well as which one are really free.

Movie Memorabilia - What's The Appeal?

Movie Memorabilia can be just about anything associated with a movie, actor, actress, famous theaters, even film studios. Usually the list includes posters, photographs, scripts, film cells even costumes and props. There’s almost no limit, assuming you’re willing to do the research and legwork. You may one day, through research and patience find someone who has that vintage lobby card with Charlie Chan in “The Shanghai Chest” who’ll no doubt be waiting for just the right buyer. To be successful, you’ll need to be knowledgeable of an items value and be able verify its authenticity.

What’s The Appeal?

Collecting movie memorabilia is just a hobby for most people. They like the idea of “owning” a little piece of movie history. An item might remind them of their favorite movie or movie star. For others, it’s an investment. Recently, a Sean Connery action figure, along with various 007 model clothes, was auctioned off at Christie’s Auction House in London. The purchase price: $830. So, while it’s purely enjoyment for most, it can be very lucrative for the savvy and knowledgeable investor.

Whether you’re collecting movie memorabilia for fun or investment, you’ll want to be aware of a few simple guidelines.

Quality vs Quantity

It almost goes without saying but usually, the better the condition, the more valuable it is. Don’t let emotion carry you away. This is a time for selectivity not impulse buying. I don’t care how much you love John Wayne, a cardboard cutout of the great actor is a great find but if it’s missing an arm, it will of course be less valuable - unless you have verifiable proof that it was John Wayne who tore off the arm! In that case less really would be more.

What’s It Worth?

What makes an item valuable. It boils down to how bad someone wants it and how much they’re willing to pay for it. Generally, the older an item in the more valuable it is, assuming it’s in good condition. How rare is it? If there’s only a handful in existance, then it will surely fetch a much higher price than if there’s a million of them. Its supply and demand. People want something more and are willing to pay more if it’s rare.

Six Degrees

How closely is the memorabilia associated with the actor or film? Is it a table that appeared in a film or a handwritten letter personally signed by the star? Although the table might be valuable, the letter would be far more in demand and if it’s original, would be considered rare, driving the value (and cost) up even more.

Popularity

How well known is the movie or actor associated with the memorabilia. A hat worn by an extra in a movie made 20 years ago would technically be memorabilia but would command very little on the market or at auction. The piece usually has to be associated with someone or something famous. It doesn’t matter if he or she was the hero or the villain.

What’s Your Pleasure?

Consider your own tastes. Do you like old movies or are the newer releases more your style? Star Wars, Spiderman, The Indiana Jones Series are all popular right now. But maybe your tastes lean to more vintage offerings. Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Wizard of Oz… Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Jimmy Durante all had “Big Star” appeal and still have avid and caring fans who would no doubt pay handsome amounts for quality movie memorabilia connected to them. Ultimately for the hobbyist it’s a matter of what pleases you.

By using a little common sense and following these simple guidelines, you’ll have a fun and possibly profitable adventure hunting down your favorite movie memorabilia.
